Extruder gearbox specifications are meaningful only when the fields are read together. Power, speed, ratio, torque, axial thrust, output interface, mounting dimensions and lubrication/cooling arrangements form one engineering configuration rather than a list of interchangeable catalog numbers.

The minimum specification set

A useful extruder gearbox specification is not a single power number. At minimum, identify the series and model, input speed, ratio, expected output speed, power, output torque, axial-thrust requirement, output connection, mounting geometry, lubrication method and cooling arrangement. For replacement, include exact shaft fits and spline data.

Nominal ratio versus actual output speed

A nominal ratio is a convenient catalog identifier, but the application requirement is usually screw speed. When output speed matters to the extrusion process, verify the actual relationship between motor speed, exact or effective ratio and required screw speed rather than relying on the printed nominal ratio alone.

Torque and power are related but not interchangeable fields

Power, speed and torque describe the same power flow from different directions, but a gearbox rating also depends on the internal design and duty. Do not back-calculate a torque and assume it is an approved gearbox rating unless the technical data explicitly supports that operating point.

Axial thrust is independent of transmitted torque

The screw-generated axial load follows a separate load path through the thrust-bearing arrangement. Two gearboxes with similar torque can therefore have different suitability for the same extruder if their thrust systems or screw-side interfaces differ.

Dimensions and tolerances are technical data

A mounting dimension without its fit or tolerance can be incomplete. For shafts, bores, centering diameters and splines, preserve the complete designation used by the approved drawing. This is especially important when a replacement must fit an existing extruder without re-machining.

Because ratio, speed, torque, axial thrust, interface and duty also determine suitability.
Should exact ratio be preserved with its source precision?
Yes. If an exact-ratio table is published, keep the approved source precision rather than trimming digits that communicate the gearing relationship.
Are tolerances important on a website dimension table?
Yes when the table is intended for engineering fit or replacement. A dimension and its fit/tolerance belong together.
