Extruder gearbox dimensions are interface data. For a new machine they control base design and driveline geometry; for a replacement they often determine whether a gearbox can be installed without re-machining the extruder. Datums, fits, splines and service connections should be checked as one system.

Start from the mounting datum

A reliable dimension comparison begins with a common datum: base plane, shaft centerline and a defined gearbox face. Compare mounting-hole locations and center height from that datum before checking secondary envelope dimensions. This prevents a visually similar gearbox from being accepted when the driveline center is different.

Preserve fits and tolerances

Input shafts, centering diameters, output bores and splines may include fit designations such as m6, H7, H8, H10 or F9. The tolerance is part of the interface. When a website table or drawing is prepared for engineering use, do not strip the fit from the dimension label.

Output spline and screw-side geometry

The screw-side connection should be recorded with the complete spline designation and the relevant length/engagement dimensions. For conical twin-screw gearboxes, record both outputs and their relative geometry. Variant suffixes can represent a genuine spline difference even when most external dimensions are unchanged.

Cooling and lubrication connections are installation dimensions

Pipe threads, hose connections, pump ports and cooling-water interfaces can control how easily a replacement fits the existing machine. Include them in the site survey and leave enough service space for filters, oil-level inspection, draining and hose removal.

How to use website dimensions safely

Website dimensions should support preliminary selection, not replace an order-specific drawing. Before machining a base, coupling or screw-side adapter, obtain the approved drawing for the exact configuration and revision.

Use only the verified/sanitized engineering figures already cleared in the final technical-document system or new CHINFAR-owned visuals. Do not recreate unverified mechanical geometry.

Why do fit symbols matter?
They define the allowable size relationship between mating parts. Removing the fit can change the engineering meaning of the dimension.
What is the fastest replacement dimension set?
Footprint, mounting holes, center height, input shaft/fit, output spline, thrust interface and cooling/lubrication connections.
