Industrial Gearbox Lubrication Guide
Correct lubricant type, quantity and maintenance practice are essential to gear and bearing life. Oil quantity is often mounting-position dependent and should not be treated as one fixed value for every orientation.
Four questions before filling oil
- What is the exact gearbox size and variant?
- What is the installed mounting position?
- What lubricant type/viscosity is specified for the operating conditions?
- Has the unit been supplied pre-filled or dry?
Symptoms of incorrect lubrication
Heat, foaming, leakage, unusual noise and accelerated wear can all be related to lubricant quantity or condition, although they can also have other causes.
How this applies to R, F, K and S gear units
The same engineering principle applies across the CHINFAR four-series platform, but the mechanical layout changes: R is inline/near-inline, F is parallel-shaft, and K/S are right-angle families. Use the principle to define the requirement, then select a configuration within the appropriate family.
