Cycloidal Reducer vs R-Series Helical Geared Motor | Selection Guide
Author: HUIGUANG × CHENGFA Transmission Technical Team · Updated: 2026-08-12

Start with a cycloidal reducer when high ratio, frequent starts or impact duty dominates. Start with an R-series helical geared motor when continuous efficiency, smooth running and modular motor integration are more important. Final selection still depends on torque, duty, mounting and maintenance.
Cycloidal units use multi-tooth engagement in a compact arrangement and are often considered for variable or impact duties. R-series units use multi-stage helical gearing and suit continuous machinery where stable operation and modular installation matter. Neither should be selected from ratio or motor power alone.
Check output torque, start frequency, shock level, shaft load, installation envelope, lubrication and total operating cost. For a condition-based comparison, send the application data to sales@chinfar.com.
