Industrial Gearbox Replacement Checklist

A gearbox is not a direct replacement simply because the ratio or size code is similar. Mechanical interface, output geometry, mounting-hole pattern, motor interface and performance must all be checked.

Mechanical fit checklist

• Mounting type
• Output shaft diameter / hollow bore
• Shaft extension and key
• Center height or centerline reference
• Mounting-hole pitches
• Hole diameter or thread
• Output flange OD, register and PCD
• Critical envelope dimensions
• Motor interface

Performance checklist

• Ratio and output speed
• Rated output torque
• Service factor
• Input power and speed
• Radial/axial loads
• Duty cycle and environment

Only when mechanical fit and performance both pass should the replacement be described as a direct replacement.

How this applies to R, F, K and S gear units

The same engineering principle applies across the CHINFAR four-series platform, but the mechanical layout changes: R is inline/near-inline, F is parallel-shaft, and K/S are right-angle families. Use the principle to define the requirement, then select a configuration within the appropriate family.
