Industrial Gearbox Replacement Checklist
A gearbox is not a direct replacement simply because the ratio or size code is similar. Mechanical interface, output geometry, mounting-hole pattern, motor interface and performance must all be checked.
Mechanical fit checklist
- Mounting type
- Output shaft diameter / hollow bore
- Shaft extension and key
- Center height or centerline reference
- Mounting-hole pitches
- Hole diameter or thread
- Output flange OD, register and PCD
- Critical envelope dimensions
- Motor interface
Performance checklist
- Ratio and output speed
- Rated output torque
- Service factor
- Input power and speed
- Radial/axial loads
- Duty cycle and environment
Only when mechanical fit and performance both pass should the replacement be described as a direct replacement.
How this applies to R, F, K and S gear units
The same engineering principle applies across the CHINFAR four-series platform, but the mechanical layout changes: R is inline/near-inline, F is parallel-shaft, and K/S are right-angle families. Use the principle to define the requirement, then select a configuration within the appropriate family.
