Gearbox Noise and Vibration Troubleshooting
Noise and vibration are symptoms rather than diagnoses. Track when the symptom occurs, load dependence, frequency, temperature and recent changes before deciding whether the cause is alignment, bearings, gears, lubrication or the driven machine.
Useful observations
- Does the noise exist at no load?
- Does it increase with torque?
- Is it synchronous with input speed or output speed?
- Did it begin after coupling, motor, foundation or lubricant work?
- Is there a temperature change at the same time?
These observations help separate gearbox-internal faults from machine-system causes.
How this applies to R, F, K and S gear units
The same engineering principle applies across the CHINFAR four-series platform, but the mechanical layout changes: R is inline/near-inline, F is parallel-shaft, and K/S are right-angle families. Use the principle to define the requirement, then select a configuration within the appropriate family.
