Gearbox Mounting Positions M1–M6 Explained
Mounting position determines gearbox orientation and can change lubricant quantity and internal oil distribution. Always match the installed orientation to the lubrication data for the selected configuration.
Why mounting position matters
The same gearbox size can require different oil quantities in M1, M2, M3, M4, M5 and M6 orientations. The oil level must reach the necessary gear meshes and bearings without excessive churning.
Project rule
If the machine orientation changes after the gearbox is selected, re-check lubrication data before commissioning.
How this applies to R, F, K and S gear units
The same engineering principle applies across the CHINFAR four-series platform, but the mechanical layout changes: R is inline/near-inline, F is parallel-shaft, and K/S are right-angle families. Use the principle to define the requirement, then select a configuration within the appropriate family.
